2020 was one of the most unusual years due to everything that occurred with our global
crisis. As we press on to 2021, there are so many things to be thankful for and look for-
ward to. As we could all agree, we are ready to get back on the field and do what we love.
While the uncertainty of our day to day lives is much different than it was a year ago, we
have that deep yearning to get back on the field and umpire!
2020 brought new ways for us to communicate with our families, peers, and friends. As
our association moves forward there will be a lot of new ideas and ways we present infor-
mation to all of our umpires. Among these will being the use of Zoom calls, YouTube, as
well as video trainings. While these are all new proposed ideas, this information will be
helpful in growing our membership and ensuring all officials are properly trained across
our organization. Communication is key in all facets of life and especially in the officiat-
ing world. When these new ideas and information are presented to you, take them and
learn them in order to utilize them. Erase the thought of “this is not how we have always
done things.” If anything the past year has taught us it was to be flexible, learn new skills,
and adapt to new ways and philosophies. We ask that all of our members do the same, as
we are wanting to present a wide range of information in a variety of ways.
